Big Spring Hover-In Tennessee
October 2001

We debated quite awhile whether or not we could take a second vacation this year but we decided it would be worth it.  Besides, we both needed another vacation anyway!  Who doesn't, right?  Anyway, we drove back up to Tennessee again but without Blew this time.  We stayed at our freinds house again and they went with us to Big Spring on Saturday.  It was great!

There were all kinds of craft and we even got in on a few rides too!  I finally got my first ride in a Starcruiser with Harold Carter and it was great!  They really do move out nicely even in the little bit of breeze we had.  I loaned my GPS to Bill, who has a UH13T and had never checked his top speed.  He clocked a nice 47 mph and was really surprised he had been moving that fast.  I got several rides with Jerry in his 19P and a ride with Steve in BOB, his UH15T.  We also got to watch several of the SCATs try to climb the big hill.  It was fun to watch but the transition from water to land was rather abrupt this year.

There were SCATs, Starcruisers and UHs of every size and style.  It was really great seeing all the different craft and being able to look at how they were built and talk to the owners about them.  They also put on what looked like was going to be a nice BBQ that night too but we couldn't stay as it was getting late and we had to get back on the road if we wanted to be back at our freind's how fairly early.  If you want to see a lot of craft, and meet a lot of nice people you should try and get to Big Spring at least once.

We met Jerry on the highway and followed him since he knew the way.

Jerry launched the 19P after he talked to almost everyone that was there!
